Sendoff barbecue set for National Guard soldiers
A community-wide barbecue and program was done tonight for the area’s National Guard soldiers as a sendoff before deployment. About 150 soldiers from the Utah Army National Guard are set to deploy to Afghanistan mid-June. Vernal will send 20 young men. Leaving many families without fathers, sons and friends for 12 months. It was great and had about 2000 people there to show support.

The Uintah County Commissioners gave the troop a Vernal Flag and asked them to take some pictures of what they would do in Afghanistan and send back so they can blog about their mission. Darlene Burns (my cousin) was one of the commissioners.
Ben France is our new friend and Joleen and Raquel's old friend who just moved to Vernal. He and his family stopped by to chat for a minute so you know me snapping a picture for proof. SMILE!!!

Last but no least is Miss Taylee Grace. She is the news member of this family. You can see that the noise didn't bother her at all!! sa news is I didn't get a picture of the CUTE mom of all these children. Sorry Tina!

That is so wonderful that the community did that, I would have cried the whole time. Way to support the troops. I love that Ben came by you will have to adopt him.
I had no idea that event was taking place. How super, super cool! I'll be thinking of the 20 Vernal soldiers and their families over the next year. THanks for blogging about it!
Colette, Thanks for taking the great pictures! The kids look so cute! My Trail man is such a special little man, his smile sure melts this Grandma's heart. Tina felt so bad when her camera's batteries weren't charged but she said Colette came to the rescue. Thanks again for always being there for my Teeny Lyn and her family! We so appreciate knowing that there are people you and Mark to be there for them!
