Finding Joy in Family Travel

We left Vernal April 28th and drove to Idaho Falls and stayed at my cousin Kim Bairds  home. His cute wife Deanna, beautiful daughter Adrianna and his daughter in law April made us dinner. We had a wonderful night visiting. Next morning we moved on to Portland Oregon to see Joleen and Kirk.

We met up with Kirk and Kaylah for a day of sight seeing and FOOD.

Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum

McMinnville, Or.

 The largest airplane ever constructed, and flown only one time, the Spruce Goose represents one of man’s greatest attempts to conquer the skies. It was born out of a need to move troops and material across the Atlantic Ocean, where in 1942, German submarines were sinking hundreds of Allied ships. Henry Kaiser, steel magnate and shipbuilder, conceived the idea of a massive flying transport and turned to Howard Hughes to design and build it. Hughes took on the task, made even more challenging by the government’s restrictions on materials critical to the war effort, such as steel and aluminum. Six times larger than any aircraft of its time, the Spruce Goose, also known as the Flying Boat, is made entirely of wood. More info here

We drove from Portland Or to the Redwood Forest CA. We took highway 101 Scenic Byway. We stopped at many rest stops along the way. Seeing many sea loins and lots of birds. No Whales. 

We ate good food in Florence, OR. We stopped that night in Gold Beach Or. we stayed right on the beach. It was real nice experience. I thought I wouldn't be able to sleep. But sleep I did like a baby. 

We started out on Tuesday morning and headed to my sisters home in Grass Valley CA. 

The Red Wood Forest is really bigger then LIFE. They were amazing, beautiful, weird, big, scary, shocking, cool. So fun! 

We got to Patti and Ron's Tuesday 3rd of May 2016. We spent two days there visiting, eating, shopping, laughing. Playing with their grandchildren.  

Her and Ron taught me house to make Egg Plant Parmesan. The old recipe from the OLD county of Italy. It was so good. 

Mandella Wasley 4 yrs old. She is a bright and smart girl. 

Brendon Wasley 2 yrs. Cute sweet little boy. Busy Bee!

Ron and Patti took us on a ride to the South Fork of the Yuba River. This is the place where they filmed The Christmas Card. One of my favorite movies. It was so beautiful.
